How to Iron On Your Reactive Medical Patch
⚠ Important: Some fabrics (like Gore-Tex, nylon, and other waterproof/breathable materials) can be damaged by heat. Do NOT iron patches directly onto these fabrics — instead, sew them on or apply to a removable panel or Velcro backing. (sewing compromises waterproof materials)
You’ll Need:
-
Reactive Medical iron-on patch
-
Iron (no steam)
-
Clean tea towel or pressing cloth
-
Flat, heat-safe surface
Steps:
-
Check your fabric – Ensure it can withstand medium heat. If unsure, use the sewing method instead.
-
Preheat your iron – Set to medium heat (about 150°C / 300°F), with no steam.
-
Position the patch – Place it exactly where you want it, adhesive side down.
-
Cover with a cloth – Lay a tea towel or pressing cloth over the patch to protect it.
-
Apply heat – Press firmly with the iron for 10–15 seconds, keeping it still (don’t slide).
-
Check edges – If they lift, re-cover and press for another 5 seconds.
-
Cool down – Let the patch and fabric cool completely before wearing or washing.
Tip: For outdoor gear, a sewn-on patch is stronger and more weather-resistant than heat alone.
